The son of a Methodist minister, Geoff Allen grew up in a series of Victorian country parsonages before moving to working class Richmond and the seedy St Kilda of the 1950s. He engaged fully as a student at Wesley College and University of Melbourne where he underwent a crisis of faith which altered the trajectory of his life.

Considered a pioneer in the field of business-government relations in Australia, Geoff recounts the strategies and negotiations that brought Australia’s largest companies together to form the powerful Business Council of Australia during an era of economic reform in the 1980s.
